Buy A Motorcycle Permit
Motorcycle permits are available at the Parking Office or Online. The cost is $40 for the academic year.
Riding a motorcycle or moped is one of the easiest and most economical ways to get to campus. Not only do motorcycles reduce traffic congestion, but parking on campus is much easier than for an automobile. The USU campus has several areas designated for motorcycle parking, and the cost for the permit is minimal.
Motorcycle parking permits are required Monday through Friday during the hours posted in each parking area. All motorcycles parked on campus must display a valid parking permit. To be valid, the permit must be affixed near the rear taillight. We recommend that all old decals be removed from the motorcycle.
Motorcycles may not use automobile spaces except at paid meters. No motorcycles are allowed in either parking terrace.
Access Control Gates
Parking access control gates present a potential hazard for motorcycles. Gates are electro-magnetically controlled, and motorcycles may not have the mass required to properly actuate the sensors. To avoid possible injury, motorcycles should always pass to the outside of control gates. Never attempt to ride through the exit by actuating the gate.
Always wear your helmet! According to the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, helmets saved an estimated 1,158 lives in 2003. An additional 640 lives could have been saved if all motorcyclists had worn helmets. Helmets reduce the likelihood of fatal injuries by 37 percent.
